Community Hall

Westhampnett Community Hall

Westhampnett Community Hall is open!

If you are interested in hiring the space for regular usage for clubs, classes etc, or one-off events please email westhampnetthall@gmail.com or see the hall website www.westhampnetthall.co.uk

The Building work started on 20th November 2018, and the Topping Out Ceremony was held on 24th April 2019. Mrs Pat Adams said a few apt words and with the Sussex Flag and St Georges Flag fluttering in the wind the occasion was well marked.  The building of the new Community Hall is now finished, and it was handed over to the Parish Council on 2nd September 2019. Fitting out was then undertaken, with the first usage in November. The Official Opening of the Community Hall took place on 30th November 2019, with the ceremony performed by Susan, Duchess of Richmond and Gordon.

The Community Hall is located to the south side of the Village Green on Stane Street and together they will provide opportunities  for local people that have not been possible previously.

The Parish Council owns the land for both the Community Hall and the Village Green freehold. This site is reasonably

central to Westhampnett and Maudlin, and accessible from Westerton, and there is parking for 33 cars within the Community Hall grounds.

The Community Hall comprises a large meeting Hall with a properly appointed kitchen and toilet facilities. There are blackout Blinds and an state-of-the-art Audio Visual setup for films, presentations, trainings, music etc. The Hall can be used for meetings of various groups and provides the location for much wider use by the community such as mother and toddlers, coffee mornings, pilates classes, exhibitions etc.  As the population of Westhampnett will have doubled in less than 10 years the need is there for such a facility for the parish. Parish and outside groups can hire the facilities, thus generating income for the Community Hall.

The Parish Council is continuing to fit out the Hall by utilising New Homes Bonus (NHB) monies that are available from developments in the Parish.
